My idea lies in preparing condoms with internal coating of
neem oil. It kills the sperms by damaging the plasma membrane . The ability of
neem oil to prevent the growth of various pathogens such as C. albicans (which
is one of the most common causes of vaginitis) and other opportunistic vaginal
pathogens such as E. coli, makes it highly desirable vaginal as it maintains the vaginal health besides serving the
purpose of contraception in human beings. They are non-irritating and easy to
use while almost 100 percent effective. It's important to note, however, that
even toxic spermicides are not 100 percent effective. When tested against human
sperm neem extract (sodium nimbidinate) at 1000 mg was able to kill all sperm
in just 5 minutes and required only 30 minutes at a 250 mg level. They
have the added benefit of preventing vaginal and sexually transmitted diseases.
Neem contains a number of healing compounds that lessen the
chance of contracting or transmitting sexual diseases. Used in conjunction with
condoms, neem can help to minimize the risk of dangerous diseases such as AIDS,
herpes and the human papilloma virus (HPV). As an added benefit, neem oil
safely acts as a lubricant soothing vaginal walls without danger of damaging
latex condoms.
Since Neem tree is found throughout India and is easily
available around us. We can start initiatives to promote research and
development on this. Instead of going for harmful steroids as contraceptive, we
can very well replace them with herbal contraceptive.

I love neem. One thing I should mention: neem is good by itself, but since any oil can break down latex, only the less effective polyurethane condoms are OK to combine it with, as I understand it.
